So today I got together for the last time with my group for linguistics.
Now I'm supposed to string letters for the title. But man, they're like "does any one have string at home??" And we all went *stare*. Then someone says "well if none of us have string then this isn't going to work." UM. It's called "shop", ever heard of it?? So I just said that I have string. Of course I don't just have string but I'll just go BUY it. O_O |

Wow the power was out in my building today when I stopped home before work.
I went in the back and smelled nothing but BLEACH BLEACH BLEACH. Oh well. *~*SOMEONE WANTS THEIR WHITES TO SPARKLE.*~* It made me ill, actually.
BUT then I stepped into the windowless hall. It was PITCH black in there. Something was beeping. I was like O.O So I turned around, went down the stairs and walked a circle around the building. Of course my INSANE imagination got the better of me. I imagined what if somebody cut the power and was going around STRANGLING EVERYONE AS THEY FUMBLE IN THE DARK?? AND THEN STICKING THEM IN BLEACH??!?? AND THAT BEEPING?!?
Yeah. The beeping was the power status box.
But I went, stood in front of the hall door for sometime. XD Got out my keys. Flung the door open and ran to my door with the key out. XD Then I fumbled in a RIDICULOUS frenzy for the knob and keyhole. REMEMBER THE PITCH BLACK. XDDD I got in and bolted the 3 locks on my door. XD
Once I got in I was just annoyed. HOW CAN I MAKE LUNCH WITH NO POWER?? and then WTF MY FREEZER FOOD IS GETTING WARM".
But then the power came back.
Speaking of being sick fom smells, I seriously thought I would barf on this woman's lap on the bus. It was crowded and HER PERFUME. I thought I would have to ask the prof to excuse me. Why do people wear perfume? Wow you smell like something!! Yey.
Also, after spending HOURS working ahead on my latin for today, I got to class and found that it was the day of the "Classical Association of Canada Junior Latin Sight Translation Contest". So I sat for an hour not understanding that. I didn't even submit my paper. >_> But my RIVALS did. :/ Well they'll never know. Why, they don't even know we're rivals!! But for serious. What I gathered from the story was that Romulus held an assembly at Goat swamp, where he "something"ed in a "something cloud" and the senate who believed it fear of bereavement something SOMETHING SOMETHING.
Oh yah I watched that Jimmy Kimmel again and all they did was insert the correct performance into the rerun! So I had to not only see Jimmy Kimmel but the SAME Jimmy Kimmel. XD

I'm gonna have to start keeping other stuff in here. Once a month costume things are really boring. Especially now that I'm back to university and work and NOT DOING costume things except sketching Helena photos and IMAGINING Seth being ALLLL green and embroidered and praying for my Suu skirt. -_-
Muh. Not now. Maybe not ever. XD
You know what's hard?? Not using "anime faces" in non anime/Japan-related communities. I've discovered that people outside of that actually don't know what they are. And it seems odd. It's hard to be expressive without those faces! O_O
HAHA I am the only person on LJ with the interest of "being catbert". |

You know what's a good idea? A 2 hour nap at 7:30. There's noooo way I'll be sleeping for a while. It's 2:15 now. AUGH. But I was so sleepy. ;_;
Muuuh.
I used the mockup I had made to make my train/corset from my nice Satin. Then I forgot to keep the pattern to make the lining. Soooo... I dunno about that! But I need my golden vinyl to finish up. And 34367598356728 more hours of embroidery.
I wsnted to embroider all the gold lines and edging on Seth because I thought of the hot glue + gold paint thing, but then I thought "real clothes are not made of hot glue and paint". VoV;; It will look more real if it's something that would actually be on clothes. Ya know, not like "hay this is a costume". And I think that much glued on braid trim is gaudy and not true to the design.
But yah.
My back hurts from hunching over my machine. ;_; Marathon sewing day. My vacation time is running out!!
I wanted Seth to be done in... l5 days! January l4! (pushed back from HALLOWEEN LOL.) Right. -_- Muuuuuh.
The schedule for finish should beeeeee:

Aerith - May 24 (first day of Anime North. XD)

Time for lots and lots of REAL big work on Seth. Or not. >_> But it's 1 week to the deadline for her to be at least wearable!!! ;o;
The mockup is about to be torn apart for pattern! I'll be forever doing mockups from now on because they are cool.
Now THIS is exciting!! Soon I'll have the real velvet dress. I received the velvet today and was SO dissapointed by the colour. >_> I'll have to buy new stuff after halloween. A hard lesson: SWATCH IT!!
For the corset, I used a bodice pattern that I liked and cut it off just below the bust. I fit it more carefully on the dressfom.
I'm having some troubles with the train, though. Now I know to get a mockup fabric that feels similar to the real thing. Paper-thin poly is impossible to drape like heavy satin. ;_; So I'm not positive what my $20/m fabric is going to turn into when it becomes a train/corset. Scary. I had my big oval piece with a circle in it for my waist. I put all the underclothes on the dress form and put the corset and oval on top. I will have to cut the oval more finely to the length and shape I like.
It's being ugly =O
To do before Halloween:
-green dress
-train/corset
-breastplate
-ruffle sleeves
-neck ruffle
-buy a wig
That HAS to be done. I don't want to rush forward because I REALLY want to make the craftsmanship good this time. (Though it would be nice to have some appliques on my train at least!! ;_;) That way I can enter the Katsucon Hall Costume Contest. Since it is for craftsmanship. I'm having a hard time picking a division since I've been costuming for a while, but the division guideline ideas are based on awards.

You know what's SO fun?? Picking next year's costumes. They're so much more exciting when you aren't working on them.
Next convention year it may be:
-Queen Esther (Trinity Blood)
(-Lilith (Trinity Blood))
-Irenes (Chrono Cross)
-Sister Paula of the Inquisition (?) (Trinity Blood)
Now the question is-- how many can I do in one year? I listed them in order to be completed so the most important ones are done first. I probably will remove Lilith. 2 such huge costumes in one year = burnout + scheduling headache with 2 main costumes. I'll do that one as my main 2009 piece. XD
I wonder what our group will be that year?? If any??

I've got just about nothing done. Just 20 hours worth of mockups.... an almost finished dress mockup... a BUNCH of little ruffly sleeve mockups... and a petti missing a row of ruffles. >_> One month, 10 days until this costume needs to be in a wearable state. |
